Happy New Year everyone!
How fast did that year go? We are here in 2016 already!
This past year was filled with so many beautiful moments and so many opportunities to learn and thrive. Reflecting back on this past year, I’ve realized that there’s been so many life changing moments. I started really taking this blog seriously, I quit my first job, started my masters program, became a fitness coach, and I got married! Phew, talk about a busy year. 😉 I might have high expectations for next year now, after all of these wonderful happenings.
I might be a goal person, but I’m not a New Year Resolution person. The reason behind this is because I’m already a big goal setter, every month I make a list of my goals and, for the most part, I do achieve the most important ones. Â In the past I always made resolutions and I had these big goals that I wanted to complete by the end of the New Year but I don’t think I have ever completed one of my resolutions. They were never specific enough and I don’t think I honestly really cared for them since the end of the year seemed so far away.
When I make monthly goals, I make them SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. The ones that I end up posting on my blog are only a piece of the fully thought out and planned goal. Here’s a few of my goals for January.
Personal
+ Â Â Budget: Â Â Â Now that it is the new semester I have to sort out all my student expenses and my normal bills. My semester actually started this Monday and my grants and scholarships haven’t gone through just yet, so I’m starting to tap into my savings. But hey that’s what it’s there for! We did also just buy a new coach since we’ve outgrown our little love seat.
+ Â Â 21 Day Fix: Â Â Â It’s no secret that I’ve become a Beachbody coach and I’ve been doing the 21 Day Fix. So far it’s been great and it’s really working for me and it’s my goal to complete the 21 days fully and complete the 21 days of workouts as well. I want to give my 100% to this program!
+ Â Â Schedule: Â Â Â Now that the semester has begun I need to take like an hour and just plan my daily schedule. I meant to do this over the weekend but my husband came down with the flu and I’ve been at his side taking care of him since.
+    Second Language:    I was supposed to start this in November but life got nuts. My first goal is to talk to my counselor about this degree requirement. I want to see if I can relearn Spanish instead. I took quite a few years learning Spanish and I would rather just rework on that than learn a whole new language. The second part of this goal is starting with rosetta stone and fitting in “class time”. It’s tough learning a second langauge on your own!
+ Â Â Â Read One Book: Â Â Â I need to start reading leasurly. I have so many assigned readings for class which is great but I need something that gets my creativity going and is an enjoyable read. Don’t get me wrong, class readings are great and all but they’re so dense.
Marriage
+ Â Â Date My Husband: Â Â Â I would like to go on at least three real dates with my husband. Like dress up, go out and enjoy ourselves. We tend to stay in because of money but I have plenty of cheap or free date ideas for us. Netflix does not count, going to the movie theater for a matinee with reclining chairs is though.
+ Â Â Support My Husband: Â Â Â My husband is at his medschool interview right now, it’s exciting and scary all at once and there’s the potential that he won’t hear back from them in awhile so I want to be there for him in his moments of doubt. I want him to know how proud I am of him and that it will all work out.
+ Â Â Keep Up With My Home: Â Â I was doing a great job with this until the flu infected our home. I’m happy to say the dishes haven’t piled up but… the laundry has. I feel like I need to condense but I use everything for the most part so maybe I have a lack of organizational space. I do have one junk drawer that should be cleaned out sometime soon.
+ Â Â Couples That Work Out Together Stay Together:Â Â Â Now that I’m doing the 21 day fix, I haven’t been going to the gym with my husband but I’m going to start going with him again. I miss working out with him and supporting each other.
Education
+ Â Â Â Work: Â Â Â I want to keep up with all my work, I don’t want to be a half a reading short for class anymore. I also want to commit to finishing my papers three days before their due date.
+ Â Â Â Participation: Â Â Â I am so nervous when it comes to participating in class because I feel like I’ll make a silly comment or something that doesn’t relate at all. So my goal is to prepare comments for each of my readings so I feel a little more comfortable in class.
+ Â Â Â Economics: Â Â Â I’m worried for this class, my brain just doesn’t work well in this subject so I’m just hoping that I study hard enough and really work through this class.
Blogging
+ Â Â Consistency: Â Â This has been a constant struggle and I’m still figuring it out. I’m going to do my best and get ahead in my posts so I’m more consistent for you all.
If you made resolutions, what are they? Or what are your goals for the month?
