Can you believe it’s mid-April already! As we were driving back from the city today we looked at all the trees and all of the dogwood and cheery blossom trees have finally bloomed. If you look over at boathouse row the pink trees are popping up everywhere, making this city look filled with life again. People have started coming out and there’s that summer buzz in the air. I give it only a week before all the leaves are back, bright and green. I long for the nights that I can finally sit outside on our balcony comfortably in the evening with some mint lemonade. If you can’t tell I’m so excited and this is what is helping me make it through each day!
I wanted to give you all an update and a look into what has been going on here in our little piece of Philly. Right now I am in one of the busiest weeks of the year at work. Not only am I currently planning for the weekend teacher conference but also our annual brunch. Despite all the craziness, I’m happy to report that I’m finally figuring things out and when I come to these event’s next year, I will definitely have more than one trick up my sleeve to make the process run smoother. Given that I am in the busiest time for work I think I’ve been so stressed that it’s making me sick. For the past two weeks I have been so achy and exhausted. I really hope I snap out of it soon!
This past weekend was a little refresher for me though. I went home with Conor and got to see my family. I miss my family so much and seeing my dad means a lot to me since his brain tumor doesn’t seem to be improving. The whole weekend we spent together as a family. I brought home a dogwood and a pear tree for my mom to plant in the yard, so we shared some laughs as Ubots (doggie #3) dug our holes for us! After we planted the trees, Conor and I worked on washing and cleaning out the car. Washing the car was never this fun before, now I get to mess with someone as we clean. 😉 Note to self: cold water isn’t very nice.
Conor has been doing really well. He’s been working steadily on his Masters thesis and should be ready to be turned in and presented this June, so he’s right on track with everyone. We unfortunately haven’t heard back about any other interviews with MedSchools so we are officially prepared to apply for the second cycle of applications. It’s a pain because that’s money we didn’t really plan to spend but we are willing to do anything to get him where he belongs. We are discussing applying to DO schools on the West Coast so if you have any experience with the schools out there let us know! I’m incredibly hopeful that he’ll get in either late May or June.
My plan is to get through the next two weeks without passing out at my desk and to try and get outside more. Conor won’t be here this weekend since he’s visiting his family so I’ll be spring cleaning! I’m honestly really excited. We do have the zoo pass finally so an impromptu trip to the zoo is a must this coming week! A reward for cleaning hopefully. How have you all been? Any exciting news?
