Week 18

August 13, 2018

18 Weeks Pregnant

It’s week 18 (at least while I’m writing this post), can you believe it! There has been so much going on and I cannot believe how close I am to the midway point of this pregnancy. That’s just absurd to me. Now that I’m feeling more alive and normal I’m going to do my absolute best to do updates more often. A lot has been changing and we just had our first baby shower. Take a look at those cookies my little sister got for us, they tasted as amazing as they look!Bumpdate

The basics:

How far along?
18 weeks today, and I’ve also started my 5th month of pregnancy. It’s exciting and scary that I’m approaching the halfway point.

Due date
January 8th, 2019

All about baby:

Size of baby
The size of a bell pepper or a sugar glider(the animal), depending on the app of course. The ultrasound below is from 12 weeks.

All about baby: Baby is about 5.6 inches and almost 7 oz. Something that some people don’t know is that when baby is measured, it’s from crown to rump, not their full body because they’re all curled up. I am feeling our little one move quite a bit every day It feels like a goldfish swimming around and it makes sense since baby is yawning, hiccupping, twisting, stretching and kicking now. Myelin is also forming around our babys nerves.

Have you decided on a name? We have a few that we’ve picked out and we’ll have the official name in a few weeks once the sex of the baby is confirmed. We won’t be sharing any names until after we announce the birth though. We made the decision not to share because we know that there may be many requests and wants from those we love and we would hate to make anyone think their opinion isn’t valued compared to others and we would hate to disappoint anyone. We’re also so excited to make this decision together and introduce our little one to everyone when they’re here.

All about momma:

Weight Gain: I still haven’t gained or lost anything yet since my last post. My doctor isn’t concerned at this point but predicts that I’ll finally start gaining soon as baby gets bigger.

How are you feeling? Mid last week I finally started to feel somewhat normal. I’m no longer taking zofran which is a big deal to me since that means I have finally stopped getting sick. I have been getting some heartburn but I rather deal with that.

Best moment so far?: The best moment since my last post was feeling our baby move throughout the day and knowing it was baby moving and the baby shower my little sister and my mom planned for me. The baby shower, although it was small, it was so wonderful. I’m going to share the highlights of the shower in another post though!

Are you having any cravings? Not exactly. The only craving I’m having is for pumpkin spice but I feel like that happens every year around this time. I might be obsessed. I did find pumpkin spice yogurt and premade latte so I’m pretty happy. For the most part, I’ve been keeping on top of a healthy diet, we don’t really have snacks here and I’ve been eating mostly salads and soups.

How are you sleeping? Better! I’ve been sleeping through the night! It could be because I’ve decided to stop drinking water a few hours before bed but I’ve been waking up in the morning so parched.

Maternity Favorites: My TOMS heels actually. They’re just so comfortable and I know a lot of moms end up holding on wearing heels while they’re pregnant but these just work for me. Plus they match all my outfits and make me look somewhat put together even when I’m a little frumpy looking.

What are you excited about? Starting the nursery. We already started cleaning the office out, poor hubby is losing his space. I’m starting to realize that I have a lot of stuff and I have no idea what to do with it and how to get rid of it all. Do you ever just go through your stuff and ask yourself why do I have this from 10 years ago? No? Just me. Got it. 🙂 I have an issue of attaching sentimental value to stuff that I shouldn’t and working on the nursery is forcing me to go through all this junk. I don’t even know how I’ve accumulated as much as I have and I could have sworn that I was doing well on my minimalist journey. There’s always room for improvement though.

Next time I do an update I’ll have the sex of the baby confirmed! In the meantime, here’s a photo I took today (August 13th), which makes me 19 weeks pregnant.
