Week 37

December 21, 2018

I wanted to give a quick 37 week update. Not much has changed honestly since last week. I went to my normal appointment, nothing is really progressing which is good because baby isn’t considered term yet, at least not until next week. We did discuss with my doctor about what would happen if baby decides she doesn’t want to come and in that scenario I would be induced at 41 weeks if there’s no changes in mine or the babys health. My blood pressure was slightly elevated but that’s normal and I rushed to the appointment. I’m just continuing to take things easy. I’m working on wrapping up things at work and creating a maternity leave binder for my manager. This Friday I’m excited because we have our work holiday party and we’ll be bowling and then this weekend Conor’s parents are coming. We’ll spend time walking around Philly and then I think we’re getting dinner at a wonderful restaurant called R2L.

Our 37 Week Appointment

Typical appointment, my blood pressure was slightly elevated and there’s been no progress with the little one. I imagine next week’s appointment will probably be just as uneventful.

The basics:
How far along?
37 weeks 3 Days

Due date:
January 8th, 2019

All about baby:
Size of baby
Our baby is the size of a canary melon, which means that baby is about 19 inches long and weighs around 6.3lbs. Baby feels huge honestly because their kicks are powerful and it absolutely seems like there’s little to no space in there.

What’s going on in there?
Baby is practicing breathing which baby has actually been doing since week 28. We were able to see this on an ultrasound! I believe that baby is also blinking at this point and just playing with their limbs.

Have you decided on a name?
This is done!

All about momma:
Weight Gain:
I’ve given up checking.

How are you feeling?
Not much has changed honestly. I’m still getting fluttering in my chest and I noticed that my blood pressure has been slightly up. I can’t breath any better so I’m not nesting, and I haven’t felt baby drop at all so I’m really just waiting for something to happen.

How are you sleeping?
I’ve resigned to the fact that I will not get a good nights sleep for another 20 years.

Maternity Favorites
I’m still loving my fitbit this week. I shows me the very sad graph of my lack of sleep.

What are you excited about?
It’s not really baby related but I’m super excited for our staff holiday party, Conor’s family coming and Christmas. I’m bummed out I’m not going home but it’ll be nice to spend it with my husband alone.
