Pregnancy and Motherhood, Updates

Weeks 30 & 32

December 1, 2018

Things are slowing down! Well, not the pregnancy but for the most part it hasn’t been nearly as eventful as the last update, everything has been for the most part normal which is a good thing! Since my last update at 28 weeks, we’ve worked on the nursery, we celebrated Halloween, had our baby shower that was hosted by my sweet sweet mother in law, had a few appointments and Thanksgiving. So maybe a little more has happened than I originally thought but I guess that’s what happens when I don’t post regularly enough. Sorry!

Our 30 & 32 Week Appointment
My last update was unfortunately mostly about how I went to my 28-week appointment and then ended up in labor and delivery after I was in a minor minor car accident. Everything turned out fine which was such a relief. My appointments are still supposed to be every other week and are typically the standard weight check, blood pressure, fetal doppler and a quick Q&A with my doctor. My 30-week appointment actually fell on Halloween so I did show up all dressed up as an overstuffed scarecrow and I dropped off some apple cider doughnuts that I had made. The appointment was really quick, I got my tdap shot and went on my way. In between my 30 and 32 week appointment, I did go in for a quick checkup because I was having issues with my heart racing and my blood pressure being elevated. So we did make a cardiologist appointment and get blood work done to check on my anemia. At my 32 week appointment, we went through everything so quickly, mostly because I did have an appointment in between the two. Our little ones heartbeat is always around 150bpm and loves to move around while I’m at my appointment. The next appointment is at 34 weeks.

The basics:

How far along?

33 Weeks and 5 days.

Due date:

January 8th, 2019

All about baby:

Size of baby

The size of a honeydew melon, about 17inches long and about 4.25lbs.

What’s going on in there?
Right now the baby is starting to really develop her immune system which is key for when she is born. The amniotic fluid should be maxed out now so now her kicks and stretches should be a little tougher and stronger feeling, especially since she’s still growing. She is also beginning to notice light changes and closing her eyes while she sleeps and opening them while she’s awake. We have tried seeing if she can notice the light on my belly and it absolutely makes her move around and she’s curious by it. Conor thinks that I’m annoying her when I do this!

Have you decided on a name?

So we have finally decided on both a first and middle name. It’s classic but also unique and I honestly don’t think that anyone will be able to guess it. There is a hint at her name on an Instagram post featuring her nursery. Any guesses?

All about momma:

Weight Gain:

I finally gained 3lbs! I never thought I’d be happy over gaining weight but I was starting to get nervous.

How are you feeling?

My heartburn is just out of control and it’s getting debilitating. I’m unfortunately getting to the point that I’m throwing up in my mouth and tums and pepcid just really aren’t working. I have noticed that it happens later in the afternoon around 2pm and it goes away when I finally go to sleep. I’m also beginning to get a little sore in my hips and I absolutely have to start holding my belly if I’m turning over at night or bending over.

Are you having any cravings?

Nope, not really. I really want a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich from Starbucks but I think that has a lot more to do with the fact that they’ve been out for a month and I just want one.

How are you sleeping?

Not fantastic, it’s getting more uncomfortable finding a position that’s comfortable, she’ll move then I’ll need to flip over which is a huge project. I also feel like I get up at night way too many times to use the bathroom. I should probably drink less before bed but if I do I get so parched at night and I wake up feeling like I’ve been in a desert.

Maternity Favorites

A hair tie, that is my maternity favorite. I hate my maternity jeans, they don’t stay up, they’re uncomfortable so I’m actually still wearing my normal jeans and I just close them with a hair tie.

What are you excited about?

I’m excited to finally get everything organized and my hospital bags packed. I don’t’ feel like I’m nesting yet but I just want to get everything done and together before I get too tired. I am very excited about decorating for Christmas but that’s not exactly baby related. I’m actually super on the fence about if I should order family Christmas pjs just in case our baby is a Christmas baby. I feel like it’s going to come down to, I won’t order them and she’ll come early or I will order them and then she will be on time. I guess we’ll see.
