It’s the most magical time of the year…. it’s December, already! I’m having such a hard time actually accepting that it’s December, I just can’t believe how quick this year went! I can’t lie, once Christmas music started playing at stores and I saw Christmas items being put out I was totally ready for festivities to begin. It’s so strange to think back of this time last year and reflect on how much this year has changed me and Conor, and all that we’ve done.  So here’s a little December update for you all, Want to join in? Everything for the link up is here.
Wishing
I’m really wishing we would get some snow. I have friends in Colorado and up in the mountains in Oregon & Washington and they keep posting pictures of snow. When it snows it sets the whole Christmas scene and feeling for me. I’m someone who loves to look at the snow while I’m bundled up inside with blankets, next to my tree, with hot cocoa. I’m so excited for Christmas but I feel like this little piece is missing. Going off this, I hate when I put on a cozy sweater in the morning and then it gets up to 67 later on in the day when I’m running around doing errands.
On a more serious note, I’m really wishing right now that my grandfather will be home for Christmas. He was in a car accident a few days before Thanksgiving, so I’m really hoping he can come home and be with us. I know he’s been feeling really lonely at the hospital so it would be such a blessing that he’s strong and healthy enough to be home.
Remembering
When the holidays come around I get so nostalgic thinking about Christmases past, and how much things have changed over the year(s). This time last Christmas, Conor and I were engaged and had no idea we’d be getting married this year. This will be our first Christmas married!
Wrapping
Okay, so I’m no where near the wrapping phase of gift giving. This year I took on a big project of doing homemade gifts. Last year I did home made gifts as well but they didn’t have as many pieces. This year they’re a little more intricate and they’re positively adorable! Â On top of making gifts I also decided to make the cutest cards but those are for the most part finished.
Baking
I love baking but I haven’t gotten around to doing  much of it just yet. Basically I’m in the lead up to finals  so I have been drowning in papers and assignments. Conor will be working the day before Christmas so I’m planning on making about ten dozen assorted cookies and apple cider donuts for the whole ER staff. They really enjoyed the apple cider donuts for Halloween, so hopefully some baked goods will brighten the ER.
Decorating
Okay, so decorating is one of my favorites. Every year my family and I would go pick out the tree and I would help my mom decorate the tree, the house and outside. Last year was the first year that I didn’t get to help with any of that so I had to start making my own traditions with Conor and it’s honestly really tough letting go of the traditions I used to hold dear. Last year we started decorating together and this year I’m kind of on my own. His work schedule doesn’t exactly meet up well with my school schedule so I’ll be decorating tomorrow by myself. We have a tiny apartment too so I have to get a little creative with making things looking nice and not cluttered. So far I have a few vases filled with winter sticks and pine branches, I have garland over our sliding glass door and entertainment center and finally my tree is up, lit but undecorated. I still have to put lights on our windows and balcony and finish up the tree. Reflecting on this all, I’m very behind this year!
